After weeks of white/ivory wedding cakes, we changed gears with this little piece! When Angela and I met for her design consultation, she knew exactly what she wanted: bold, bright, and a bit of diva. Her color palette lent itself well to this design: purple, green, and zebra print! Yes - zebra print runners were selected for the wedding reception. A bold move. Takes guts. I was able to get a sneak peek at the reception room when I delivered the cake. It looked fabulous and I knew that Angela would be thrilled with it.
It took a couple of sketch tweaks (and we all know what my sketches look like) but we nailed the design with bold stripes, dots, and of course, zebra print.
I received a call from Angela during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Her (now) husband is a huge Boston fan... she's a huge Vancouver fan and this was an epic moment since both teams were facing off for this coveted cup. The design would depend on the winner but she knew she wanted a groom's cake to mark this memorable moment.
We all know the outcome of the series - this design includes an ice surface, Boston celebrating with the cup on one side and Vancouver heading to the golf course on the other. Angela wanted to include a boot - so we threw that in, too... personalization as its best.
Congratulations Angela and Lloyd!
